    George Thomas is working in exclusive partnership with a leading rigid plastic packaging organization.

    Position – Materials Manager

    Location – Greenville-Spartanburg, SC – On-site position

    The Materials Manager oversees materials planning, procurement, and inventory control to ensure seamless production operations. This role is integral in maintaining efficient supply chain processes, enhancing cost-effectiveness, and meeting production schedules by coordinating with multiple departments.

    This position reports to the Plant Director.

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Ensure a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols.
    • Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in all material handling processes.
    • Develop and execute strategies for materials procurement and inventory management.
    • Optimize inventory levels to support production needs while minimizing excess.
    • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate terms, monitor performance, and resolve any delivery or quality issues.
    • Lead continuous improvement initiatives in inventory control and supply chain efficiency.
    • Support production teams by ensuring the timely availability of materials.
    • Manage material flow from suppliers to the production floor, reducing downtime due to material shortages.
    • Implement cost-saving initiatives within the materials function without compromising quality.

    Skills and Qualifications to be Considered for the Role:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in materials management within a manufacturing environment.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to managing supply chain challenges.
    • Proficient in ERP/MRP systems and inventory management software.
    • Excellent negotiation, communication, and team-building skills.
